What Tokyo Ghoul wants to say is that either you‘re weak and let others decide how your life goes and you tell yourself that‘s your choice, although you‘re just making an excuse when you‘re actually scared of the responsibility that comes with deciding. On the other hand if you make your own choices you become the strong and active version of yourself and no matter how it plays out you made that choice for yourself and you‘re fine with whatever outcome that brings. In simple terms to find a solution instead of crying that life is unfair.

And what his mom did was not only not for the best, it was simply weak and obviously did not love him enough to start being strong enough to turn her greedy sister down

tbh I don't mind the mc turning evil in any show but that never happens. There is only light who was evil, no body else so most of the time I know what's gonna happen bcz mcs these days are so predictable but kaneki finally gave away his humanity =D Now this is an unexpected turn of events

Yeah during the attack on Marely , Eren became a totally different person , I totally forgot about him plus Ig Kaneki didn't really turn evil , he just wanted to get more powerful to protect his loved one I think. I've already finished Tokyo ghoul though the ending was good tbh

That doesn't justify what Reiner and Bertolht did.
It was because of them, Eren turned into a genocide commiting rage freak.
It was Marley's hate that turned Eren into that.
So in both AOT and Tokyo ghoul, the mc turning evil was justified.
Eren went thru all that and kaneki suffered thru this shit.
